You put cereal in individual Ziploc bags for your kids in the evening and turn the TV channel to PBS on a low volume... so that when your kids get up in the morning you can have an extra half hour to sleep!
This is a perfect Lazy Mom Confession for a Saturday morning submitted by lazy mom Alanya.
I too am guilty of this little guilty pleasure. If you remember, I like to sleep so when a fellow mom told me about the above trick I knew it was for me! Execpt, this mom would leave a bowl of cereal out on the counter and a small cup of milk in the fridge for them to pour on their cereal when they got up! The kids would watch cartoons and the mom and dad would sleep in a little longer!
I actually love this small act of laziness! My kids are all old enough to get out of bed and turn on the TV. If it's turned down low then it won't wake the others... or myself. And if their "breakfast" is ready then they can eat while they are entertained. The girls will wake me when they need something... or damage control needs to be done (aka- fighting).Isn't that just brilliant?! And perfectly lazy. I love it!

Oh, I wish I had known this tip last night! My kids woke up so early this morning, and I did NOT want to get out of bed. This is a great idea because it would let me serve them ahead of time.
ReplyDeletesuch a great tip! :) my girls are getting good at this!
ReplyDeleteAwesome tip. My mom used it on me when I was growing up! And looking back, it really made me more responsible at a much younger age. So, it's not LAZY... you're teaching them responsibility ;o)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Elizabeth! That is the whole piont behind I'm a Lazy Mom!

I sometimes set the kids up to sleep in. My oldest can operate the TV and DVD palyer just fine. So I will let the kids get their sleeping bags and pillows set up on the living room floor to watch movies. My oldest is always the last awake, so when she is too tired to keep watching she just turns off the TV and goes to sleep. They all sleep in and sometimes I end up with breakfast in bed the next morning.
ReplyDeleteI love it...I have been known to turn the tv in my room to Disney Channel when Brady comes in to wake us up so that I can get a little extra sleep.
ReplyDeleteI've totally done this sort of thing, much like the rest of you do. I turn the television to something kid friendly and leave out dry cereal or fruit snacks. Works like a charm!
ReplyDeleteOn mornings we need to get out of the house quickly, I use sippy cups and granola bars to feed the kids in the car. I don't have time to wait for them to wake up enough to feel like eating a bowl of cereal!
