Lazy Mom It

So I've been thinking about a new kind of "feature" here on I'm a Lazy Mom.  One where us lazy moms "lazify" more complicated things that are out there.  Like recipes, things people make, etc. that are sort of complicated (or in other words, non-lazy mom friendly) and then we lazify them, or "Lazy Mom them."

For instance, I saw on this blog today some recipes for homemade popsicles.  Now don't think of me more highly than you ought, because my next statement may shock you.

I actually do make my kids homemade popsicles in the summer time.

*gasp!*

You're shocked, aren't you?

Well don't be, because here comes a big however....

HOWEVER.

I do NOT use a recipe to make them.  I just use juice.  You know, juice that comes in big bottles?  In the juice aisle at Walmart?  Yes, THAT juice.  I just pour the juice into the popsicle molds and viola!  I'm done.

So see?  I just Lazy Mom'd that post about making homemade popsicles.  Because as much as I would LOVE to make all of those recipes for homemade popsicles, the juice-in-a-bottle kind of popsicle is just as good in my book.  And lazier.

That's my first example of Lazy Mom-ing something.

Here's my second.  (aren't you glad I'm clarifying for you in this way?)

Last week I posted a Shout Out for a blog I like to read.  I told you she was going to be posting about a "quiet book" she made for her daughter.  If you didn't see her quiet book then you must go here and check it out.  OH. MY. WORD.  It is adorable.  And for the life of me I wish I was not a lazy mom or I'd make one.

By golly, I would!

*sigh*

So okay, my fellow lazy mom comrade, Chana, saw my Shout Out about the quiet book and she emailed me her Lazy Mom version of one, so I MUST share it with you.  It's my duty to all things lazy.

Or something like that.

So here's what she had to say...

Stacey,

Here's my lazy mom version of that book it looks like her daughter is playing with....ours is just a dress up teddy bear... the idea was taken from this site. She gives the free patterns - so it's fairly Lazy Mom friendly! My girls love them. I've thought about venturing out with other felt animals and things... but I'm still pretty lazy.
Now do you see why we've been BFF's since we were 2?

Anyway, here are the pictures she sent me of her girls playing with their books....

Isn't that so cute?! And a great way to Lazy Mom that quiet book I'll never be able to recreate for my kids.

So.... do you have a lazy version of something that's more complicated?

It could be a recipe or a craft.

Maybe it's a sewing project or a lazy short cut for something more complicated.

Email it to me!  I'd love to see the complicated version of it and then your smart Lazy Mom way of doing it!  And then I'll post them here for all the lazy world to see!

Or maybe you have a recipe or something complicated that you'd love to make, but it's just not lazy enough for you to bite the bullet and do it.  Send them to me and I'll post them too.  Maybe between all of us lazy moms on the side bar over there we'll be able to come up with a lazy mom version of it for you!

Please don't be too lazy to send me something, mkay?  I really want to hear from you on this!  Please?  Please?!  Don't make me beg!

  1. You had me at lazy popsicle recipe! I've been looking for easy things to do with kids and this fits the bill perfectly....and the quiet book is just another treat!
    Thank you!

  2. I enjoyed your post - your girls look quite content with their felt bears, and they are very cute!
I like to do things simply but with excellence. I don't think you have to make things complicated to do things well - juice popsicles get gobbled up just as fast around here and I feel better about giving the kids 100% juice with no sugar or dyes. I don't call striving for simplicity being lazy though - since the Bible doesn't have one good word about laziness, I try to avoid it! Try is the operative word! Have a great day!

  3. Pudding pops in no time. Instant pudding mix and 2 cups milk. Beat with hand mixer 2 minutes. Spoon into dixie cups and plop a popsicle stick in the middle and pop in the freezer. Once frozen, peel cup off and enjoy. Easy-peasy!!

  4. Love the lazy mom popsicles, but I don't know if I'm up to creating a quiet book just yet. I'm glad Chana figured out how to lazy mom it. Hers are adorable. The lady who made the original must have an only child! haha! I'll have to noodle an idea of how to make these "boy friendly"! Hmmm... :)
