Lazy Dad Got a New Car

Yes, it's true.

After YEARS of my husband driving old, beat up, itty-bitty cars that he has to fold himself into, he has finally gotten into a car that is going to last him longer than a year!

Yup.

Yesterday The Lazy Dad got a 2010 Ford Focus.

And even though it's a used car, it's still VERY exciting for a couple of reasons which I will happily list out for you here.

Your welcome.
  1. The car only has 13,000 miles on it making it the lowest mileage car we have EVER owned.
  2. We are still living in the same year this car debuted in! (It is still 2010, is it not?)
  3. We have NEVER owned a car in the same year it debuted in! (I just wanted to drive that point home to you all)
  4. It's cherry red and oh so cute.
  5. It matches our red Ford Expedition very nicely.
  6. It also matches our church colors (you know, on our logo - very important as Lazy Dad is a Pastor).
  7. Just kidding about that being important (see number 6).
  8. This makes the fourth person that works at our church to own a red car. (not sure why this is exciting, but we will look cute all lined up in a row in the parking lot)
  9. We got a STEAL on this car! Seriously, it may be the best deal ever.
  10. Lazy Dad no longer looks like Mr. Incredible crammed into a teeny-tiny car (did I mention he's 6'5"?)
  11. My kids are already asking if they can have it for when they start driving.  In like 8 years.
  12. Oh my gosh. My oldest kid starts driving in 8 years!
  13. Somebody start praying NOW.  We have 8 years of prayers to build up till my first kid starts driving.
  14. But SCORE that we can pass this car down in 8 years, am I right?
BUT!

I haven't even told you the BESTEST reason yet for why Lazy Dad's new car is so exciting...

  15.  Because he's upgrading from this:

Yes, he's upgrading from our 1988 Ford Crown Victoria

NOW do you see why this is such an exciting thing?!?!?!?!

I thought so.

Oh, and the other exciting news I have for you is that one of you lucky lazy moms (or lazy dads) could be the proud new owner of our 1988 Crown Vic, because SHE'S OFFICIALLY FOR SALE!

AHHHHHHHH!

Now don't all pound down my email box trying to get to her first.  I know she's a hot commodity and you're all dying to have her.  I can't blame you. We've grown very attached to her and she is only 3 years away from being considered a classic, so it's hard to let her go.

Seriously.  It kind of is.

But if anyone you know out there really does want her, drop me an email.  She might just could be sitting in front of your house like that.

But anyway, I'd also like to point out another exciting factoid.  This lazy family is currently the owners of three, count 'em three Fords.

Geez, call me already Ford!  Let's work out a deal. I'd make a great spokesmodel for you. I haven't got all day for you to catch on to this.  Hello?!

No seriously, Ford, I'll make time for you.  Just call me.  Or text.  Let's do lunch and work up a promo.

Okay, show of hands.  Who thinks Ford should totally work with The Lazy Mom?

[a bazillion hands shooting up]

See Ford? This could work.

It could be the beginning of a beautiful lazy friendship.

(call me!)

  3. My family went through a Saturn time. We've bought a total of NINE cars from them since 1998. (That's between my parents and my 2 brothers and me. And that's not counting a car or two that i'm not sure if we got there or not.) Same salesman! When I got my last one he gave us a huge deal because we'd bought so many from him.

  4. Oh, I'm so excited for you! What good stewards you and your family are with God's resources and what a wonderful witness in this day and age. And, God has honored that witness in allowing you to get this car at such a great deal. How awesome! Blessings to you!

  5. it's cute! just beware that statistically red cars get pulled over more than any other color ;) haha. (funny enough, the ONLY time I've ever been pulled over is when I had a red car.. haha). But seriously, so exciting! I know the thrill of upgrading from a car that gives you nothing but stress to an almost new one! It's very freeing :)

  9. Congrats on the new car!! That would be great to see the 4 red cars lined up. =) Our oldest family car is actually the van we had when my brother was born. 1984! Chevy Astro. My parents finally got rid of it last year. Hubby and I have only own 2 cars ourselves, ever. He got rid of the sports car when we had our first daughter. And with public trans so close to our home and his work, we only have one car now. Growing up, we had at one point more cars in our home than drivers. How crazy is that? Let us know if Ford gives you a call. =p hehe Have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Congratulations! Mazel Tov. My story is very close to yours. I was driving around an ugly old no a/c little car til last year when I bought a 2007 Ford Focus. I love it. Still feels like new.
I sold my old one to someone who was real happy to have it b/c it ran good. So one persons junk is another persons blessing, right?

  17. I am a GM girl myself, please forgive me, but I grew up in a town where just about everyone I knew worked for GM. If it closed down over 1/2 our church would've been out of work, and it was a huge church.
We own 1 Mustang now, and then God blessed us with our 3rd baby (not our plan, but his ;) ) and now we don't all fit in it!
