Diet.


So yesterday I started a diet.

You know, because it's the 1st of the month and all? 

So I started a diet for several reasons.  One of which is because The Lazy Dad and I are going to have some pictures taken together for our 10th anniversary.  And I want to look good in these pictures.

Oh, and I started a diet because I'm going home to Texas at the end of this month for a few days. 

Oh, and because I could run into people from high school at every turn while I'm there for my visit.

Oh, and because while in Texas I'll be eating all kinds of comfort food and I need to shed some pounds before I go and put some on.

Huh?

So yesterday I met a friend for lunch.  But because it was September 1st and I had started my "diet" I asked her if we could pack a lunch and meet at a local park instead.  Then that way we could walk on some trails after our lunch.

So we did.

We ate and walked on a trail for 30 minutes.

Then last night my neighbor and I started walking too.  I laced up my tennis shoes and we tromped around the neighborhood for about a mile.

And you know what happened after that? 

I was sore.  Sore people!  Can I just say I was disgusted with myself for being sore from just WALKING. 

Oh, and I got headaches.  Headaches!  I always get headaches after I exercise which makes me NOT want to exercise because, hello! I get headaches afterwards.

So tell me, O wise lazy people.  Why do I get headaches after I exercise?

And why do I always start diets on the 1st of the month or a Monday?

And why am I so lazy?

And why is the sky blue?

And why is it Siegfried and Roy and not Roy and Siegfried?

A girl needs to know these things.


P.S.  Yes, I'm painfully aware that this post made no sense.

P.P.P.S.  One day I hope to make sense.

  3. If you normally drink caffeine and are cutting that out now, that could cause headaches.

  4. I started the whole walking thing yesterday too and I had a horrible Headache all day too. I thought it may be because I needed more water, but I am glad someone else wrote that too. Let me know how it goes for you. I didn't walk this am because of the whole headache thing. I guess my son made a good point yesterday when he told me I needed to take water with me. Oh well live and learn :)

  5. Yep, I was going to give you the drink more water advice too. I definitely get headaches when I'm not drinking enough water.

    Sending lots of encouragement your way with the diet and exercise thing. I need to get going on the exercise again too. Ugh...

  6. Along with your water, maybe add a banana to help replace potassium and prevent leg cramps. Hang in there. Your body will make the right adjustments when you give it what it needs. Walking is a great way to lose the weight and catch up with friends!

  7. I started my diet yesterday too - or at least I meant to - until I had some left over cookies that needed to be eaten and the hubs brought home a costco pizza for dinner. But, really, I started it. :-) Because I am going home to TX (for Christmas) and because my son is now 8 weeks old the doctor cleared me for exercise. I'm with you though... right there with you! Good luck!!!!

  8. Good for you for going on a diet and exercising!! I've been running consistently for 3 weeks now. I hate running, but it's been worth it.

  9. Water! Drink lots of water. Try to have glass a half hour before you eat...and keep hydrated when exercising.

  10. Was it cold when you were walking? I get headaches when my ears get too cold, but I also agree w/ the other readers about the dehydration and possibility of w/drawl from Cafeine.
