Fare Thee Well

Yesterday a very sad thing happened.

Wait.  Actually two very sad things happened.

And just like any good bad thing that happens (huh?) they happened one right after the other.

I caution you.  These things are so sad they may make you sad. And the images in this post may be too hard for you to look at because of the sadness.  So consider yourself forewarned and stuff, mkay?

The first thing that made me so sad was sadly this.

Are you choked up?  Did tears spring to your eyes?  Because they did mine when I realized this.  In fact, I'm still a little emotional about it since it hasn't been remedied yet.

And if that wasn't bad enough, the really, really sad thing that happened right after that sad thing is this.

Isn't that just the sadess, sad you've ever felt?

I mean, I was totally unaware that it could even happen!

A crock pot can break?  In two?  Like the Great Divide?

THE HORROR!

I told you these images may be hard to look at.

I think we should all observe a moment of silence over my dearly departed crock pot.  It just seems like the right thing to do.

*moment of silence*

Our beloved crock pot is survived by her starving family who loved her very much and depended on her regularly for meals.  She will be missed.

Rest in peace dear crock pot.  You served us well, you served us well.

*tear*

Well alrighty then!  Now that we're over the sad stuff, I need some help!  The Lazy Mom is in the market for a new crock pot and I need to know in a most desperate way, a couple of things...

~ What are the features that your crock pot has that you love about it?
~ Are programmable crock pots really all that?
~ Should I get one with a carrying case?
~ What's the best way to bond with your new crock pot?
~ Will you cook all the meals for my family in our new crock pot?
~ If I get a bigger crock pot will it make my butt look smaller?

What?

Am I putting too much thought into this?

I mean, this is a very serious matter after all.  How else will I know which crock pot is the one if I don't have these questions answered for me?  Geez.

So help a lazy mom out!  Tell me your opinion by clicking on the comments link below.

  1. I love that I can set the timer on mine. Keeps me from overcooking chicken!

  2. Only a sec to post, but I love my Stay-or-Go pot with the clamp-on lid (but no carrying case). LOVE IT for all the things I have to take food to. It's fab. Not programmable, but I've never seemed to have a use for that feature

  3. Hang on...I need a moment to properly mourn the crock pot...

  4. I have an old-fashioned off-warm-lo-high rival crock pot, and i LOVE it. Hasn't failed me yet!

  5. Oh no, I have been eating pizza every week for at least 9 months and have a new (8 years old) crock pot that hasn't been used, ever.
Note-learn how to use crock pot and stop eating pizza.

  6. I have put a lot of thought into this one because I really want a new crock pot!

I have the "smart pot" programmable one, which I mostly like. My problem with it is that I am limited by the presets, and I can't just set it to warm. So, I am left with over cooked food if I need to cook on low for 6 hours - the lowest time for low cooking is 8 hours. So, if I don't turn it off myself, it is not good.

The programmable one I am looking at is the "count down" slow cooker. I would set the temp and time for myself, and it switches to warming when done. I don't know if there is one you can set a delayed start on, though...That would be just too good!

  7. I got a programmable crock pot as a gift. Why is this the best thing ever? Because I can set it for 4 hours or 6 hours....and THEN, after that time period is done the crock pot automatically flips to "warm". Food never burnt and always warm. Programmable is the way to go!
