Well, at least it will if you're a kid.
Or act like one regularly.
Because this recipe is SO. STINKIN'. FUN.
Lazy moms or not, get your kids in the kitchen to help you with this one. They will die!!!
This recipe is sent in from lazy mom Chrissy. (Hi Chrissy!) Here's what she had to say about it...
My husband's grandmother made these for us the other day. I was amazed at how easy they are to make. They are called pancakes but taste like french toast. The best part is you don't need bread. Plus when they cook, they rise up in these crazy shapes. My girls thought they looked like mountains.Hootenanny pancakes
1/2 stick of butter
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
6 eggs
Preheat oven to 425. Put the butter in a 9x13 pan and melt in the oven while it preheats.
Put flour, milk and salt in bowl, mix well.
Add 2 eggs at a time and beat well.
Pour over melted butter in pan.
Bake 25-30 minutes (it bakes into weird shapes)
Serve with whatever you like on pancakes like butter, syrup or powdered sugar.
And here is what it looks like when it's coming out of the oven!
Ahhhhhh! Isn't it amazing looking?! Won't your kids just die over them?! Don't you want to make these immediately?!
I do. I am. Tonight's dinner... Hootenanny Pancakes for all!
Well, all five of my family. I can't feed YOU all.
Sorry.
Now go make you some Hootenanny Pancakes too!

ReplyDeleteI love these! I have been making these for years...its an old family recipe. It is a Finnish oven pancake called Krupsua (Pannukakka). My family is Finnish so we would make it for Christmas morning and special occasions, but now its so easy I make it all the time. I sprinkle cinnamon on top when its done baking and do add a little sugar to the batter. My kids can eat a pan by themselves!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this before -- but it was called a Dutch Puff :) -- super easy and delicious, it's amazing! Thanks for sharing. I agree that adding a little sugar is a good thing -- I like sweetness in the morning :)
ReplyDeletemade these for breakfast this morning! YUMMY! I used vanilla almond milk and topped with mango chunks and cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteI made these tonight... this is a direct quote from hubby.... "this is awesome... this is a keeper... this is a 10... this is 5 stars... 9 out of 10 doctors recommend eating this.... we should have this every night." So, yeah, hootenany pancakes will be making regular appearances at my house. Plus my kids got a huge kick out of them.
ReplyDeleteBut I should add one warning... maybe this only happened to me... but when I took the pan out of the oven to add the batter, the hot butter exploded like a volcano and actually burned me. Luckily I had made the girls leave the kitchen first. I wonder if the hot oil reacted with the humidity in the air? It was kinda weird. But tasted so good, that it's worth risking life and limb over! haha!
Hi from the UK - these are Yorkshire Puddings! Have them for a sunday dinner with roast beef, roast potatoes, veg and lots of beef gravy. Make them large like this or individual ones in a muffin tray. Can't imagine them with sweet toppings, but each to their own! Google images "Sunday roast" to see what we're all eating in the UK every sunday! x
ReplyDeleteThat is the strangest, neatest, and yummiest thing I've seen recently. I'm trying this out for sure!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up! :)
original recipe calls for full stick of butter and its soooooo good like that
ReplyDeleteI love the name! We call them German Pancakes. My kids frequently ask for them for dinner.... YUMMY!
