This weekend is, among other notable things, my birthday weekend.
*sigh*
Apparently turning another year older is inevitable.
So while most of you will be celebrating the Super Bowl this Sunday I'll be locked in my darkened room, rocking back and forth, mumbling to myself that "I AM still young, I AM still young, I just AM," and generally avoiding my birthday.
UNLEEEEEES...
*light bulb!*
...this whole "Super Bowl" thing is a big sham to cover the world celebrating my birthday?!?!
Yes, that could totally be the case.
YOU GUYS! You are all so sweet!
All 93.2 million of you.
Let's see... when did this whole "Super Bowl" thing start? What Super Bowl is this anyway?
Okay, I looked it up and found out that it is Super Bowl XLV.
So then I looked THAT up and discovered XLV stands for the number 45.
Cause I'm super bright like that.
So seeing that I'm not turning 45 this year (remember, it's some TOTALLY random number between 32 and 34) the Super Bowl must in fact be for real.
Whatever.
Anyway, to help celebrate this festive *ahem* weekend our family is headed to Great Wolf Lodge this very afternoon to spend the night and slide around it's super slippery water slides. In fact, it's our favorite family-friendly indoor water park and we can't wait to hang out as a family and relax in it's 84 degrees of watery fun.
We haven't told the kids we're going yet (it's just better that way, can I get an amen?), but they do know that we are going somewhere fun this weekend.
In fact, Lazy Dad told them that they should do some work around the house to earn some spending money for our surprise destination.
Speaking of that, let me show you the money totals after the first day of "work:"
(Yes, my childrens' names are in A B C order. That was Lazy Dad's contribution to the birthing of our children.)
Here's the second days totals:
Are you noticing anything here?
And here's the third days totals:
Well at least "B" finally made it on the board. Geesh! He was starting to act like his mother!
In other D-day news.... er uh, I mean, B-day news, I got five birthday cards in the mail yesterday. In fact, that's all the whole mail consisted of. Birthday cards. For me. I felt the love.
And among the birthday cards was one from my in-laws that made me laugh out loud. Not so much because of what was written on it, but what it sang to me when I opened it...
The best thing about it? I don't even need the card anymore because my children won't stop singing it to me.
Aren't they just darling?
And on that note. I'm out.
Peace.

ReplyDeleteOh HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My birthday is this weekend too (2/5) and I'm not far behind you, somewhere between 30 and 32. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you!! Enjoy the weekend :) We are heading to Great Wolf sometime in March, although I would looooove to go now to escape the snow/ice that surrounds us :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I had no idea it was Superbowl weekend. I didn't until tonight know who was in it, pathetic! Well if we change our minds and watch the game, I'll have a cocktail in your honor, lol!
ReplyDeleteWe love Wolfe Lodge. It's so freezing where we are that I think even I would wear a bathing suit so I could enjoy the warmth of the water!
Amen to not telling the kiddos before hand. Happy Birthday to you!
Megan
Haapy B-day! We are the same random age. Have fun at the water park.
