It was a glorious day. A day that I didn't expect to be glorious in nature. Until I met Mary.
Poppins, that is.
I didn't mean to get caught up in the "magicalness" of Disney.
I didn't mean to jump up and down like a little girl.
I didn't mean to push my children out of the photo and ask for a picture of just me and Mary.
But I did.
I also didn't mean to walk up to her and say, "Every day's a holiday with you Mary!"
I also didn't mean to giggle like a little girl when I asked her where Bert was.
I also didn't mean to start talking in a British accent as I quoted various lines from Mary's movie.
But I did.
I also, also didn't mean to tell her how "I'm practically perfect in every way too, Mary!"
I also, also didn't mean to ask her to come nanny my children.
I also, also didn't mean to clap for joy when she told my children to "gather round for a picture, children, spit spot!"
But I did.
Yes, when I met Mary I turned into a silly little 5 year old. I look back at it now and am embarrassed by my 5 year old behavior. But there's just something about meeting a childhood character that will do that to you.
Like the time when my boys were toddlers and we took them to see Sesame Street Live. I may or may not have clapped and bounced in my chair and waved at each character when they came out.
Yup, that 5 year old in me just couldn't NOT act like a five year old at that moment. And that's how it was when I met Mary. No other character we met during our Disney stay, and we met lots and lots, turned me into that 5 year old quite like Mary did.
It was practically perfect in every way.
Or, uh, more like, practically pathetic in every way.
(Hi Mary!)

I felt the same way, too....she was so amazing! How does she keep that white dress so clean??
