Let me hook you up with some grrrrrrreat tips, why don't you?
Today on my Lazy Mom Radio Show at 10am Eastern (that's 9am Central for you central folks and so on and so forth), I'll be broadcasting LIVE from Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida! And I'll be sharing LOTS o' tips with you. Tips you will love and die and drool over. Hopefully not all at once. (That'd be a bit strange to watch.)
And to whet your whistle, or whot your whostle, or what your whastle (please stop me, I think I'm delirious) I thought I'd give you a whittle whip. Or little tip. Or whatever.
In other words, here's a FANTABULOUS Lazy Mom Tip coming at you straight from Orlando Florida. And I have declared this tip my FAVORITE new Lazy Mom Traveling Tip. Because it's that good.
My friend Jessica hooked me up with this fantabulous tip. And it is truly that... fan-tab-u-lous. It's a little tip I like to call "quarters"
Because, you see, on our loooooong car ride down to Orlando from Toledo, we instituted "quarters." And it paid off quite nicely... literally!
You see, for every 30 minutes we didn't have to get on to our kids for acting up in the back seat, we paid them a quarter. That's right my lazy folks, we paid our kids for good behavior. And when they didn't have good behavior they lost their quarter for that 30 minutes.
In short, IT. WAS. AWE. SOME.
In long, IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD INCREDIBLE HOW WELL THIS WORKED AND I WANT TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT IT!!!
I highly recommend this tip for several reasons.
*ahem*
Number 1: They were earning spending money for the trip... money we would have given them anyway to spend on our vacation. Why not make them earn it???
Number 2: Even though it was only a quarter, my kids were really into earning them! Probably because we told them from the beginning of the road trip how much money they could earn total if they earned all their quarters... 9 smackers. And they REALLY wanted 9 smackers to add to their $10 they each earned for cleaning the play room in the basement before we left.
Number 3: This made keeping the peace SOOOOO much easier on me! The moment a problem arose in the back seat, all I'd have to say is, "Oh! I guess you're going to lose your quarter!" And BAM! Just like that *snap* the misbehaving misfits quieted right down.
In short, IT. WAS. AWE. SOME.
In long, IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD INCREDIBLE HOW WELL THIS WORKED AND I WANT TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT IT!!!
Oh wait. I already said that.
So yes, I highly recommend this little tactic. You can obviously change the amount of money they earn depending on the length of your car trip (I mean, a quarter per 30 minutes for an hour long car ride, just won't do much for 'em) or you can change it according to the amount you are willing to pay out at the end of the car ride. We didn't want to give them more than 10 dollars each at the end of the road trip.
And there you have it folks, my rootin' tootin'est, roughin' toughin'est, favorite new Lazy Mom Tip of all time: Quarters!
