Lazy Lemon Bars

My dear sweet auntie emailed my sister and I via my mom and dad (it's complicated) a very lazy recipe for Lemon Bars.

Now, I'm not a BIG Lemon Bars fan, but I'm sure I could eat a couple before I refused anymore.  I mean, I jiggle people.  And it's not because I don't eat things I shouldn't.

So.  Thank you dear sweet auntie!  And lazy moms everywhere will thank you as well, cause this recipe is the epitome of LAY. Z.  Just two ingredients!

Lazy Lemon Bars

One 16oz angel food cake mix
One 15oz can of lemon pie filling

Mix ingredients together and bake in a 9x13 cake pan at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. As they are cooling, you can sprinkle with powder sugar if you wish.

Clean up on aisle five!

*Note: I've had a few people mention to me that their attempts at this recipe did not turn out! I don't know what the issue is, but please be advised that there have been some issues!

  4. Texture was disappointing. Maybe a little too lazy...if there is such a thing. :-)

  5. I baked this last night to take to a pot luck today. I baked it for about 23 min, turned off the oven left it in for about 10 mins, took out and let cool sprinkled powdered sugar. This morning I cut it, of course I had to taste it. It is so good. I used Comstock Original Lemon Creme, it was perfect. I will be making this again.

  6. Maybe you should say which cake mix. Mine had a very rubbery texture.

  8. I made these with lemon curd instead of pie filling - a little sticky but oh, so good! I've also done it with key lime filling instead of the lemon, and today I'm trying it with a combo of key lime curd with key lime filling to take to a football-watching party tonight.

    Love lazy great-tasting recipes!

  9. I've made these before, with a variety of fillings. Our favorite was blue berry! It does rise like crazy though! I haven't tried pineapple yet.........I like to flip the pan upside down to let it cool, so it doesn't fall. I rest the ends of the pan on a couple bread tins. I forget which, but I did notice one brand of cake mix turned out better than the other.

  11. Just wondering if you mix the cake mix with just the lemon filling or with the other ingredients on the box for the cake, too?

  12. I have used apple pie filling (plus some ground cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg) and they were a hit. The lemon sounds so delicious! It will have to be my next try. Thanks for sharing and all the folks in the trail as it made it's way to you! lol

  13. for the ones who it didn't turn out for, and for others who want to try, you must use the Angel Food cake mix that says on the box you ONLY add water. (will not work with the other kind) I use Betty Crocker.. But you do NOT add any water to it, only the angel food cake mix and the pie filling :)

  14. If you use white cake mix you will not get the rubbery-ness that you get with Angelfood Cake
