Four Out of Five

I have to tell y'all something funny.  Something that literally kept me up giggling last night.  So much so, that I got back out of bed to come write this post for your giggling pleasure as well.

What made me giggle late into the night?

My mom.

The woman who carried me in her womb for nine months and then labored and birthed me.

The woman who changed my diapers, fed me in the night, wiped my snotty nose.

The woman who threw me birthday parties, cleaned up my messes,  entertained my friends.

The woman who drove me countless miles, took me to countless appointments, spent countless amounts of money on me.

The woman who wiped my tears, prayed for me, stayed up late at night worrying about me.

The woman who co-signed car loans, sent me to college, flew to be with me each time I had a baby.

THAT WOMAN.

My mom.

Only gave me four stars on my Lazy Mom Radio Show iTunes page.  Not five stars like she could have.

Four stars.

And then.  And THEN!  She says this about my show...

Seriously y'all, I promise this is my very own mother, who says I "have great potential."

Please note that the other two people that left ratings on my iTunes page left FIVE STAR RATINGS.  And didn't say ANYTHING about me having "potential!"

Ahahahaha!

Oh me.  This seriously cracks me up.

And makes me giggle.

And wonder if I need therapy.

I'M KIDDING!

Seriously, I only find this funny.  And I love to find things that are funny.  So see?  She did me a favor and handed me funny on a plate.

That and made me wonder if she really IS my mother.

Coming Soon!!!

My lazy peeps.

Just when you thought I'm a Lazy Mom couldn't get any more fun (you do think this blog is fun, don't you?!) I go and line up something SO. FUN.

Yes, there's something coming soon, people.

Something that will make you giggle with delight.

Jump up and down with glee.

Shout from the rooftops the amazing things you'll see.

Because in just a few short weeks there will be a totally new and fun and hip feature here on this little ol' lazy blog......

Decorating the Lazy Mom Way with Traci Romine.

AHHHHHHHH!

I'm SO excited about this.  Traci is a soul sister to me AND a fabulous decorator.  But she doesn't just know how to decorate.  She knows how to decorate fo' cheap.

I mean, check out the Baby Shower she just threw, y'all.

And the way she repurposed this creepy lady in a picture frame

Oo! Oo! And the way she totally redid her unused shelf in her kitchen!

See how awesome she is?!?!?!

I'm SO excited she has agreed to post on the ol' blog here.  She'll be starting sometime in the coming weeks to show YOU, my lazy people, how to decorate the Lazy Mom way! Woot!

Let the Record Show...

Let the record show that I was mistaken as Lazy Dad's DAUGHTER at Kids Camp. This brings me great joy. And many moments of giggling at random times during the day.

Let the record show I rock a headlamp. And apparently like to dress up for night hikes.

Let the record show I like to pucker my lips in pictures. And my nose is clean.

Let the record show I had an awesome hair day yesterday. Although the record should show that this is a picture of it today instead of yesterday. So it's not quite as awesome as it was yesterday.

Let the record show I'm trying to cut out (or at least reduce) sugar in my life. Although it's not going so well. Yesterday I had a Rolo McFlurry and 2 M&M cookies.  But not all at the same time!  Baby steps, people, baby steps.

Let the record show my children are getting bigger and this makes me sad.  Which is interesting because if you had asked me a couple of years ago I couldn't wait for them to get bigger. Also let the record show they are still in their pajamas.  And have bed head.

Let the record show this blog post is over.

Lazy Ice Cream Cake

Today on my radio show I shared a new Lazy Mom Recipe that lazy mom Sheri, who declared this recipe "Oh My Stars Good!," sent to me. It's so easy even a lazy mom can make it, plus it involves ice cream sandwiches.

Uh, can I get a yes and amen for that one?
A glory hallelujah?
A star spangled banner?
A peck of pickled peppers?
A shoop, shoop, shoop?

Okay I'll stop.

Here's the yummy recipe.

Lazy Ice Cream Cake (AKA: Trailer Trash)

Ice cream sandwiches
Caramel
Cool Whip
Toppings

Unwrap Ice Cream Sandwiches (cheap ones are just fine) and put them in a casserole dish. Usually 8-10 sandwiches for a 9x13 pan.  Poke holes in the ice cream sandwiches and pour a jar or two of Caramel Ice Cream Topping Syrup over the sandwiches (don't use fancy syrup, it freezes too hard). Next, spread Cool Whip over the top and garnish with candy bar pieces, chocolate chips, or rainbow sprinkles, whatever! Freeze. Remove from freezer about 5-10 minutes before serving and cut into cake like pieces.

YUUUUUUM. Thanks Shari for sharing with us lazy moms!

Terrorizing Boys

This morning at Kids Camp my sweet 8 year old son walks over to my table at breakfast to give me a big hug and kiss.  Then he calls back over his shoulder as he walks away, "I miss you mom."

*insert melting mother's heart here*

*insert precious moment here*

*insert warm fuzzy mom feelings here*

I know these hugs and kisses aren't going to last much longer.  Especially in front of other people!  So I cherish each and every one.

I was so touched by his utter sweetness that I promptly went over to his table to deliver more hugs.  Then decided  that while I was at it I might as well go around the table of boys from his room and give them all hugs as well.

I just have eight words for you.

I've. Never. Had. This. Much. Fun. Terrorizing. Boys.

As I hugged one I would look at the next one and say, "Get ready! I'm gonna give you a mom hug next!"  Or, "You know you miss your momma's and want a wittle hug from me!"  Or, "I promise I'm not a freaky lady. Just pretend I'm your mom. Wait, is that freaky?"

Again, so. much. fun.

But I think they all secretly liked it.

I think.

Captured on the Cell Phone

Just for fun, I thought I'd show you some random things caught on my cell phone camera lately.

You know, like this shirt?

Or Lazy Dad dressed up as Ali Baba Hookah (as we affectionately called him) when he got selected to be in the Indiana Jones show at Disney World.

Or even this picture I snapped while looking for toys for my son's birthday (which is today) (he turns 10) (and I'm sad about that) (by the way, I don't buy him Barbie's) (we were just passing that aisle when I took this picture).

Sweet Talkin' Ken.... you know, as opposed to Trash Talkin' Ken?  Or even, Fast Talkin' Ken?  Yeah those.  And check out the "Ultimate Boyfriend" t-shirt he has on. Is this what we're showing our girls is the ultimate boyfriend?  Someone who can "sweet talk" them??

Don't get me started.

Speaking of birthdays, here is a cell phone picture of our birthday block. I love it. We light it up on everyone's birthday at our house.

And because I know a hundred and one of you will ask where I got it, I actually ordered it from Uppercase Living, although they don't have this exact design anymore, but they do have this one, this one and this one, which you put on a glass or acrylic block with christmas lights (or this LED light) inside of it. (FYI: Uppercase Living has buy two, get one free right now!)

But back to random cell phone pictures... check out this picture.

This is what Lazy Dad does to people who show up at our church without their tithe checks made out.

Ahahahaha!  I'm just kidding!  I couldn't resist typing that because it made me laugh out loud when I thought it.  Sorry.  I'll behave now.

Also found on my cell phone camera? Pictures of my youngest and oldest helping paint things for our Vacation Bible School.

All while my Middle child did this with a small partner in crime.

Oo! Oo! Then there's THIS picture from the night we got TP'd while we were churching.

Also while at Family Camp I captured Carman on my cell phone.

Uh, how many of YOU can say you have Carman pictured on your cell phone? Huh? Huh?

Moving on.

And last but not least, I took this picture of my boys yesterday clobbering each while inside of these things.

Boys love to clobber each other, no?

So. That's what's found on MY cell phone camera.  What's found on yours??  Link a camera phone blog post up over at Our Goodwin Journey with me today

Come on! What better thing do you have to do than go through your cell phone's pictures and slather them on your blog??  Surely nothing!

If You Give a Mom a Recipe

If you give a mom a new lazy crock pot recipe.  She'll want to try it.

So she heads down to the basement to get her crock pot.

While searching for her crock pot she notices she needs to dump the water out of the basement's dehumidifier.

As she struggles to lift the heavy bucket of water over the laundry room's utility sink she sees her washer and dryer.  Which reminds her she forgot to finish that load of laundry last night.

While folding the clothes in the dryer she remembers tomorrow they are celebrating her son's birthday.  So she looks around the basement for the birthday tub to get decorations out.

When she finds the birthday tub she heads up stairs only to stop in the kitchen and realize she never got the crock pot she went down to the basement for in the first place.

Back in the basement she stumbles over an old box of mementos and stops to look through it.

While tearing up over old memories she notices a box of hand-me-downs she meant to get to a friend.  So she calls her friend to see when she can deliver the clothes.

And gets in a long conversation.

And lays on the couch.

And forgets all about her new lazy crock pot recipe she wanted to try.

Lazy Cheesy Chicken

This morning I was feeling like making a new Lazy Mom Recipe.  So I did what any good lazy mom should do and immediately checked myself for a fever.

Surprisingly, I was fever free, so I proceeded to throw the latest five ingredients or less recipe into my crock pot which is now humming along nicely on my kitchen counter.

And then I decided to share it all with you. Because that's how I roll.

Word.

Lazy Cheesy Chicken

2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (I just dumped in this chicken)
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed cheddar cheese soup
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper (optional)

Place chicken breasts in the crock pot.
Mix the undiluted soups together with the garlic powder and pour over chicken.
Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours, until chicken is tender.
Serve with the delicious sauce over rice or noodles.

Super easy, and super lazy dinner coming right up!

Makes My Life Easier

How many of you have a Keurig?  Or a Tassimo?  Or some kind of coffee brewing system that requires pods?

Anyone??

Well if you do, I just HAD to give a shout out for something that makes my life easier regarding these types of coffee machines.

This.

It's a drawer for all of those k-cups, pods or whathaveyous to sit in!  Woot! Woot!  I've seen these drawers specifically for the Keurig and for the Tassimo.  Do you have one?  Cause if you don't, you might want one.  (I bought mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond)

No more storing these bad boys in the pantry, or on top of the fridge, or in a cabinet.  They sit neatly right under the brewer.  Cha-ching!

And that, my lazy folks, makes my life easier.

What makes your life easier?

Broadway, Here I Come!

Last night I became a cafe owner in the Old West.

Just pretend I'm like 30 pounds thinner, mkay?  Our church peeps like to keep us well fed.  And, well, I do too.

Want to see my cafe?  It's as awesome as I am. (Cause I'm awesome, right?)

I'm pretty sure after my performance last night Broadway will be calling me soon.

In fact, our Children's Director said they've already called and she took a message for me.

So see?  I'll be hitting the big time soon.  Cause our Children's Director would like, NEVER lie. Would she???

On second thought I better aim for next years Vacation Bible School.....

Want to see more of Discovery City?  It's a great town.

We even have resident goof balls.

Now excuse me while I go learn my lines for tonight.  I've got to give the people more of what they want.

Highlights... and I don't mean my hair.

**Warning**  This blog post could possibly be in the same category of "sitting on the couch next to someone showing you their trip pictures."  But I would like to think not. Cause I'm way classier than that. And cooler. And let's not forget gorgeous. **Warning**

Our trip to Disney World in Orlando Florida this June was a trip we had been wanting to go on for years. Which is surprising considering we aren't huge Disney fans.

I mean, we all know what HUGE Disney fans look and act like, now don't we?

They know every word to every song in every Disney movie ever.  And break out singing them often.
They buy the latest Disney movie the day it comes out in stores.  And can't believe you didn't.
They walk around with Disney characters on their t-shirts and talk about the characters as if they were not only real, but BFF's.

Am I right?

So yeah... using those guidelines, we don't qualify as big Disney fans here.  And because of that I never really thought we'd have a desire to want to do the whole "Disney World" thing.

And yet, something happens when you have kids... and you hear stories of other families that have gone to Disney... and you have kids that are fast approaching that alleged "perfect age" for Disney... you suddenly get the itch to go.  EVEN if you aren't big Disney fans.

The "let's go to Disney" itch usually starts with the mom.  Although it's been known to start with Dads, Grandma's, and even on rare outbreaks, Grandpa's.

We had a classic itchy case: it started with me.  So I did what any good Assembly of God Pastor's wife would do.... I asked our Associate Pastor's wife to pray with me that we'd be able to go.

What?  God wants us to pray about EVERYTHING, doesn't He?

I asked her to pray with me about this around Christmas 2009.  A year and half later... we were off to Disney!  See?!  Prayer works.

Here are some highlights from our trip.  It totally rocked.
Riding in the complimentary limo at this Wingate by Wyndham hotel.

Being with all the Texas cousins at Disney World!

Watching my biggest Buzz Lightyear fan meet Buzz Lightyear.
*insert precious moment here*

Seeing Darth Vader in person. I may or may not have screamed like a little girl.

Getting a classic "in front of Cinderella's Castle" family picture.

Getting to meet Cinderella in her Castle.

Watching my daughter meet all the other Princesses over lunch in the Castle = Best. Disney. Moment. Ever.
Seriously. This alone was worth every stinking penny we spent.
And we spend a lot of stinking pennies.

The "girl cousins" riding the tea cups.

And of course... The Day I Met Mary!
(This was before I shoved the children out of the picture to get one of just me and her.)

I hesitated showing you these highlights from our trip.  Because I know there are so many moms out there that would love to take their kids to Disney World and can't.  I don't want you all to feel bad by seeing these pictures.  It is crazy expensive and takes a lot of saving and planning (and praying!).  But I never thought we'd get to go... and we did!  So maybe you will too!  :)

What's a trip you want to take your family on that you might not have wanted to take before you had kids?
