Last night while one child o' mine was off at Cub Scouts with Lazy Dad, the other two kids and I didn't do much of anything. As I recall it, they were watching something on TV and I was hanging out on Facebook.
My oldest decided he had a hankering for some popcorn, and seeing that I'm trying to use up our last bit of microwave popcorn so that I can start using this lazy and cheaper way of making popcorn, I complied.
I popped some popcorn for the kids and myself, pulled three bowls down from the cabinet and put them all out on the counter. As I went to pour popcorn in the bowls I noticed one of them was a bit dirty. Just a bit. Not a lot. It had a random remnant of who-knows-what stuck to the side of the bowl.
Being too lazy to wash the bowl out, or grab another one from the cabinet for that matter, I just chipped off what was stuck to the side of the bowl with my fingernail and served up the popcorn anyway... being careful to give the "dirty" bowl to one of the children, and not to me.
*ahem*
So basically, this is my Lazy Mom Confession....
If a bowl or plate doesn't come totally clean in the dishwasher and it was put away anyway, I wipe it out with my hand a little bit or chip the stuck-on-stuff off with my fingernail and use it for my kids anyway. EVEN THOUGH, I would never use it for myself.
Does that make me a bad mom?
Nah!
I say it makes me a mom that has lazy moments in motherhood, like we ALL do.

ReplyDeleteHubby tells me to give the dirty dishes I find put away to the one who put it away dirty. He has been given many less then clean dishes ;)
