People. Do you have to recycle where you live? Cause we do. And it ain't always pretty.
Over the years I've done various things to try and corral our recyclables in our kitchen, but it either didn't work very well, looked messy, or took up too much space.
Then Rubbermaid sent me their new 2-in-1 Recycler. *angels sing from heaven*
See how it opens up in two places? You can either use it for trash on bottom, and recycling on top. Or if you're like us and need all the recycling space you can get, you can use it all for your pesky recycling!
And do you see how it has those green handles? It makes it super easy to haul out your trash/recycling when it gets full!
But what I love is how when it's all closed up it looks like a regular kitchen trash can! *score!*
Before the 2-in-1 Recycler we had a BIG drawer bin, like the kind you normally use out in your garage. It took up a lot of space in our not-so-big kitchen, so that's why I'm loving our new Recycler! It takes up so much less space and looks much more kitchen appropriate, which is good when you are trying to sell your house. *happy sigh*
Plus, it's so easy to carry out the recyclables that my 7 year old daughter likes to do it now (much to her brothers shock)!
Yup, I'm loving it!
You can purchase your Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler on their website. And I think I saw that it will be available on Amazon soon!
Enter to win! U.S. and Canadian residents can enter to win a 2-in-1 Recycler by filling out the Rafflecopter form below (subscribers, you may have to click over to the blog to see the form). You can do as many or as little as you want on the form, but each one you do counts as an entry!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea! I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt gets piled up on our kitchen counter next to the sink until someone (me) takes it out
ReplyDeleteRecycling has always been a fight in our house! It has always made a mess in our kitchen. This would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is always giving me a hard time about the mess our recycling leaves. This could solve our problem!! Thanks for sharing!! Ashley Wood
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for us! W are always trying to figure out something for our recycling.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!
ReplyDeleteI neeed this. I just purchased a huge laundry hamper for our recycling because Rubbermaid said they will not be launching this new line in Canada.
ReplyDeleteLove this! We have SO MANY recyclables!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've bought 2 fabric "boxes" that we throw our recyclables into. One for paper and cardboard and one for glass, metal and plastics.

At the moment we collect all of our recycling on the counter in the Kitchen, leaving space being taken up and a huge eye sore. As it builds up with no more room we then crush it all and put it in a garbage bag. We definitely need this! Would make the Kitchen look nicer and life easier. Hope we win!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE this!!! Consolidating trash and recylceables
ReplyDeleteLoving the handles. Easy peasy...
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea. Right now, our recycleables are taking over our pantry and aren't very organized. We should could use this 2 in 1 container, it would change our kitchen :D
ReplyDeleteI have a very small pantry and live in a 1 bedroom apartment. I found a slim trash can that fits snug in the pantry and this is where recycleables go. Unfortunately we have to take them in every three days which is very inconvenient.
ReplyDeleteThis is cool! Currently my 4 y.o. trots out to the garage EVERY time I have a recyclable. I'm sure HE would be happiest of all if we won this little gem. ;)
ReplyDeleteCurrently we are keeping our recycling on the kitchen counter where it takes up space and creates an eye sore. Once there is no more room we crush it and store them in a trash bag, we desperately need this!

We don't recycle at all right now (to my shame) but I really want to. This would be a great way to get started!
ReplyDeleteI hope whoever thought of that received a big, fat bonus in their paycheck! Genius!
ReplyDeleteRight now we have a rather nasty looking container under our sink that collects the recycling. Once every few days it's emptied into the regular bin outside, a chore I may kind of leave for my husband...
ReplyDeleteAnything that makes dealing with the trash more convenient. I'm all for it!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for my family. We don't currently recycle because we don't have recycle pick-up and no room to store large amounts for a trip to the plant.
ReplyDeletei put my recyclables in boxes that i got in the mail until they get worn out and then replace them

We put our recyclables in a paper bag, when full out they go.

I have one big bin in the garage that I put stuff in and I have a plastic bag hanging on my pantry for paper stuff.
ReplyDeleteI put my recyclables in a paper bag that sits next to our trash can. I love this!
ReplyDeletewe don't have to recycle where we live but we do because we LOVE our Earth!
ReplyDeleteTackling the recylcables in my household is tricky... Each space has its own dedicated green box, and then it all gets placed in a large communal green box outside until its time for it to be trucked down to the depot. It gets to be overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI have a paper bag behind the trash can under the counter where my dishwasher should be, should I have a dishwasher..ahem. confused yet? That is where our paper goes. I wash any glass jars and set them on the counter to dry, then they get relided and moved to the basement to be taken home by my friend whose FIL is a beekeeper. He will then fill those jars with yummy honey. Plastic jars, like peanut butter or miracle whip, get washed out left to dry and moved downstairs or to the goat barn and they are recyled/reused to house powdered goodies for the goaties.
ReplyDeleteThat would be PERFECT for us!
ReplyDeleteRight now, we just use an extra trash can and toss everything all together!
ReplyDeleteWe use a regular trash can and sort when we get to the dump.
ReplyDeleteI have a trash can that I use, but this would be so much nicer.
ReplyDeleteI put things in a trash bag in the garage.
ReplyDeleteWe take them out to the recycling bin outside our garage every day
ReplyDeleteI take my recycling to the bins outside. I'd LOVE to have one that can stay inside!
ReplyDeleteI have a trash can and a recycle bucket that is too small so we end up having 4 or more bags to but recycles in every week! what a mess!

ReplyDeleteRight now we have a cardboard box under the sink that my husband later empties and separates into the recycling boxes in the garage.

We keep them in separate bags outside. Rafflecopter: happi shopr
ReplyDeleteMy city has vague rules about recycling. It wasn't required for some time so we didn't for a few years. Now they have recycling every other week so we try to collect everything in boxes and sort it out when it's recycling week.
ReplyDeletewe have different storage containers in the shed to separate with
ReplyDeletemverno@roadrunner.com
we are using big boxes

we retire on 6/1 and would love to corral my recyclables in this handy dandy recycler. now if I can just get my husband to put them out for pick-up, I'll be all set
ReplyDeleteRight now we put them in a small trash can, but it overflows so easily. We just end up with a pile around the recycling bin.
ReplyDeletewe use the plastic bags that you get from the grocery store
ReplyDeletetheresa _ heppner at yahoo dot com
we use a green bin and but everything in it. Even compost items
ReplyDeleteLove this
ReplyDeleteRecyclables collect loosely stacked under the sink!! I hate it
ReplyDeleteI currently have this shelf that I throw all my recyclables in and sort it out later when it piles up on me. So messy and unorganized!
ReplyDeleteSweet!! I could sooo use this!! Right now I just walk all of our big recycleable (is that a word!) stuff out to the big trash bin...big pain!
ReplyDeleteWe currently use a Laundry Basket to hold all our bottles and cans. When thats full we put them in garbage bags and out to the garage they go.
ReplyDeleteWe store all our recyclables in boxes and plastic bags
ReplyDeleteI separate them into grocery sacks that I then recycle at the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteOur recycling company gave us 2 bins that we put our stuff in out in the garage. We have single stream recycling so everything gets mixed in together.

I have a couple of blue boxes in my garage that I use right now.cardshark42(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeletei keep chasing the recycling all over the house so I don't really have a method
ReplyDeletei keep mine in plastic bins
ReplyDeletethrow them in a bag under the sink.
ReplyDeleteI gather everything in a big blue plastic-like IKEA bag under the sink until its full and then I drop in in the large recycling bin outside.
ReplyDeleteI use this big bin I bought at Ikea. It's so bulky and obnoxious on my balcony of my apartment.
ReplyDeletesuch a good idea.
ReplyDeletewe use a green bin the city supplied to us

I have bins in the garage to gather them to send to the center.
ReplyDeleteevery town I've been in has some sort of recycle program...here we have a roll out bin that we just toss everything into, glass, newsprint, tin, etc, doesn't matter what it is, as long as its recyclable and in the list, it goes to wherever and is sorted there
ReplyDeleteWe just kind of pile it into the mudroom until we're ready to get rid of it.
