My family got home this afternoon after a three night camping trip. I just have two words for you.
Cold.
Wet.
Those were the features of this trip.
But we also had lots of fun with our friends the Pratts and the Goodwins as our kids enjoyed the outdoor education program at Heartland.
Since we had a campfire going all day and night, we just HAD to make s'mores. Because, uh, what's camping without s'mores, people?!
And while making s'mores nightly, I realized I have never shown you, my dear lazy moms (and dads), how to make s'mores the lazy mom way.
I apologize for this gross oversight on my part.
Now, technically, Lazy Dad has been making s'mores this way since before we got married, so wait! I guess this is a Lazy DAD Recipe.
But either way, it's faster, easier, cheaper, and still almost as yummy as an original s'more.
Here's the short and skinny of it, people....
To make Lazy Mom S'mores, you just replace the graham crackers and the chocolate bars with fudge striped cookies!
And then it looks like this:

It's so simple and easy, and I'm sure all you smart lazy moms out there have been doing this for years, like we have. But for the select few of you who might not have discovered this incredibly smart way to do s'mores, you're welcome.
Oh! And recently we have discovered DARK CHOCOLATE fudge striped cookies.
I personally think they rock, and was happy to see that Lazy Dad had bought some for the trip. They make a yummy s'more. But people! Why stop there, I ask you?! You might as well play around with other types of chocolate laced cookies! Mm, mm.
As an added bonus (and incidentally, another Lazy DAD contribution to this post), to make clean-up of sticky marshmallow fingers easier, just use baby wipes! Keep a pack with your s'more supplies and you'll be all set to have a lazy s'more night!
How many of you have used this lazy way to make a s'more?

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteoh me! We make smores like this! We call them cheater smores, or poor man's smores. (I guess cause you are too broke to buy chocolate AND graham crackers.)
ReplyDeleteAlthough, the top of the stripe cookies sometimes get all melty on your fingers, and you have to lick the chocolate off. (Cause why would you want to waste any chocolate!?)
Grasshopper/mint fudge squares/thin mints taste good in lazy smores.
We do graham crackers, a marshmallow, and a Hershey kiss on top. In the oven. : )
ReplyDeleteI had read this idea before and thought, nah can't taste that good but the whole is better than the sum of its parts! Works great in the microwave. :) A "fancy" option is the chocolate covered butter cookies (or English biscuits). I buy mine at Aldi's. The milk chocolate is much better than the dark chocolate. Microwave with marshmallows - yummy.
