A Lazy Mom Tip for that Out-Of-Control-Video-Game-Playing Teen In Your House {You're Welcome}

I got a hot Lazy Mom TEEN Tip emailed to me!

Similar in idea to the wifi password code tip, this tip takes on that video game playing teen that's on the verge of out-of-control.  Here's what Tara from Winnipeg, Manitoba does...

What would (and does) work, is to have a to-do list that has to be accomplished in order to get directions to the video game controller! I hide the controller in the pantry, dryer… all the places a teen would never think to look. I’ve even left it at the neighbor’s. When the kids call to say that their chores are done, I call the neighbor and “release” the controller or give the directions to where it is hidden.

This also works when your teen is too "sick" to go to school. Take the controller to work with you! Then you’ll see how often they are too sick for school!

Oh man!  I love it!

Do you have a great Lazy Mom Tip?  It can be for toddlers, school-agers, teens, whatever!  Find out how to submit it to me and hop to it!

Love,
The Lazy Mom

  1. My son has a couple of games that easily use 2 hours to play- Portal and Minecraft. Problem- we live in a bungalow, using the living room for 2 hours can be a problem. Solution- his sisters are occupied on Monday nights. If his room is clean, it's his night to play.

  2. I love this! My kids aren't even teens yet. I use Accountable Kids with mine, so they have to earn tickets to play Wii or computer games or watch a movie. 1 ticket=30 min. However, they're supposed to do their chores before playing and often "forget."

  3. My friend used to take the router to work with her. Every thing in the house had WiFi capacities. So her son's couldn't play their games without her being home.
