I try to post Lazy Mom Tips that will benefit moms of all walks of motherhood... new moms, preschool moms, school-age moms, grand moms... but usually I'm only firing on all pistons with school-age mom tips since that's where I currently land on the mom scale.
However, thanks to those of you who send in your great Lazy Mom Tips, I am happy to present to you the latest Lazy Mom BABY Tip. Perfect for nursing and pumping moms. (What can I say? We're here to pump *clap* you up!)
I had problems from the beginning with breast feeding, long story, blah blah blah. Now I pump exclusively, which is a real bear.
One of the things that annoyed me most was having to clean all the pump equipment every time, mostly because it takes forever for the water to get hot in our house, but again, not important.
Anyway, I spoke with a lactation consultant and she gave me a bit of advice that has shaved quite a bit of time off my day. Instead of washing the pump equipment every time, I put it in a Ziploc bag and put it in the fridge until next time. This way, any of the milk remnants left behind will be kept at a safe temperature, and if married with other milk from the same day, no big deal, because I would do that with all the excess milk I use anyway when I put it in the freezer or use it for a bottle.
Genius to anyone who pumps exclusively or anyone who has to pump more than once at work or when away from baby. ~ Misti
This TRULY is genius and should be implemented by pumping moms everywhere.
And remember, being a "lazy mom" isn't really about being lazy... it's about helping you find ways to be more efficient and teaching our kids to do things for themselves, so they can be prepared for life and be great adults!
Can I get an Amen?

Ugh I absolutely hated exclusively pumping, and will never do it again - but somehow I knew about this tip and did it. It was a huge time saver, because let's face it - pumping sucks away so much time already.
ReplyDeleteLove it! This will help when I go back to work.
ReplyDeleteWISH I had known this a year ago! It would have saved me so much time...
