A funny thing happened when my kids started going to school. I started feeling like I was a mom.
Now I know what you’re thinking….
“You mean the sleepless nights with a crying baby didn’t make you feel like a mom?”
“The cuddling with your little darling?”
“The times you got up-chucked and peed on?”
“The times you found a random toy or sock in your purse?”
Nope. None of those times made me feel like a mom. I really and truly did not really feel like a mom until my kids started school.
But it’s true. For some reason signing permission slips and parent/teacher conferences did the trick. Maybe it’s because I can remember my mom doing these things for me? Maybe it’s because it makes me feel like a “grown-up” instead of a kid playing house? Maybe it’s because when I do things like this….
… I realize I’m really the lady signing “Mom” on the napkin.
