This morning on the Lazy Mom Radio Show I shared my new favorite campfire recipe with those that tuned in.
And fantabulously bad for you.
I mean anything that has the title “pudgy” in it, is going to make you, well, pudgy.
And believe you me, if I know anything, it’s about being pudgy. So just consider yourself talking to a pudgy expert folks.
And then pretend I didn’t just write that on my blog for all the world to see, mkay?
Anyway, for those of you who missed it, I want to share the campfire recipe love with you. Because guess what?! It’s a LAZY MOM RECIPE!
To make this over a campfire you will need a pudgy pie maker. You know, it looks like this?
Although, my friend Jenilee told me on the show today that her family calls them sandwich makers.
And all I have to say about that is this: I guess we both know who’s better at making up names for things, now don’t we?
But whatever you call it, you’ll need it for this recipe when camping.
If you DON’T camp, don’t worry! You can still make this recipe. You can just use a griddle or a skillet like you would make a grilled cheese with. Because you know what?! This Pizza Pudgy Pie is PRACTICALLY a grilled pizza sandwich!!!
Could. you. die?
Could. you. gain. five. pounds. eating. one?
Wait. Don’t answer that last question.
So here we go….
Pizza Pudgy Pie
Bread (white bread works best)
Butter at room temp so it spreads well
Smother two pieces of bread with butter on one side. Don’t be afraid now, SMOTHER the bread I tell you! You’ll thank me later. Even though your doctor won’t.
On the unbuttered sides spread pizza sauce on up to the edges. Then on one slice of bread lay out the pepperoni, and sprinkle with shredded cheese (whatever kind you like, I had provolone with mine and it was da bomb).
Put it together like a sandwich with buttered sides out. Place in one side of the pudgy pie maker and close it up. (or place on a griddle or skillet to cook at home)
Cook in the flames of the fire until the bread is golden brown just like a grilled cheese. You will have to open the pudgy pie maker to check it occasionally so that you don’t burn it! It usually takes about 3-5 minutes per side I would say. Or if cooking on a griddle, just flip when one side is golden brown and brown up the other side.
Hello my love.
I didn’t need something new to make me pudgy, but then you came into my life. And what can I say… it was love at first bite.
What? You don’t talk to your food?
And hey, if you have a Lazy Mom Camping Recipe to share (that is five ingredients or less) send it in to me. I’d love to share it with all the dear lazy moms out there in the world.
Love from your pudgy friend,
The Lazy Mom
