As we stare down the barrel of 2014 and so many are choosing their “one word” to keep them focused during the year ahead of us, I have one word that keeps coming to mind for the new year.
I know, I know… perfect word for a lazy mom, right? *wink*
But really, I was a little bit shocked by this word. I mean, most people choose happy words like LOVE, HOPE, JOY. Or even go-get-’em conquering type words like COMMIT, FOCUS, ACHIEVE. But not me. True to form, I get a lazy word like less coming at me for 2014.
However, as I pondered and contemplated over this word, I decided it’s not such a bad “one word” after all. Because this year I want to…
Be less afraid.
Be angry less.
Feel less anxious.
And then this word started to grow on me. And I started thinking of other things I should appreciate about this one word: less.
Look at my phone less.
Have less booty (of the heavy bottom variety).
Trust more in a limitless God.
Have less in my home.
Sit on the sidelines less.
And even while I sit down to write this blog post, I’m bombarded with more “less” words. I want to be…
Flawless. (Okay, that one isn’t possible.)
But I have a feeling that if I can be “less” in 2014, I will be blessed because of it and I will be able to bless others more.
Even John the Baptist recognized the importance of less…..
So as I wrap up my own personal 2013, here’s to doing LESS in 2014! After all, less is more! And this one word for my 2014 proves it.
Happy New Year!
