Over the years I have attempted many (and I mean MANY) different types of organizing techniques to corral the plethora of toys my children have had. And while some things worked for a season, I had to occasionally revamp my techniques to grow with my kids.
You know, because kids toys start of clunky and big (hmm… kinda like my thighs) and then get smaller (Oo! Please, please let this apply to my thighs!).
SO. As the toys got smaller, I had to get more savvy. And although I like being savvy, let’s all remember I’m lazy. DOH!
And while I had HEARD of people using tackling boxes to organize their children’s small toys, I had never really gotten my buttocks off the couch to actually go GET one.
(Lazy is, as lazy does.)
Then, while Lazy Dad’s family was in for Christmas this year, his brother saw my oldest son with his Beyblades® and must have sensed my plight of small toys with many pieces and said with exceptional conviction, “We need to go get that boy a tackle box to hold all those pieces!”
And since my brother-in-law doesn’t just declare things and then NOT do them, (like, um, someone who shall rename nameless…) he got off the couch, grabbed his dad and myself and drove us down to the Walmarts, where he proceeded to not only walk into the store, but scope out the BEST tackle box to buy for his nephew, and then BOUGHT it.
(I’m beginning to think he took me along to show me how not to be lazy about these types of things anymore.)
He ended up getting my son a tackle box duffel bag (I don’t know if there’s an actual name for it is, so that’s what I call it). And it looks like this:
Inside the bag are the tackle boxes, which my son promptly put his Beyblades® into with love and care.
And so my small-with-lots-of-pieces toy dilemma was solved.
I love how my son can pack up his Beys in a snap and throw the duffel bag over his shoulder and take it to a friends house or church. Oh! And as an added bonus, my son switches out these two tackle boxes with the other two boxes that came with the bag for Nerf® Gun storage!
Peruse tackle box bags on Amazon if you’d like.
What do you do to corral the toy mess in your house?
