So since I’m going on a major road trip soon, I thought I might take some time to share with you all some of my BEST Lazy Mom Traveling Tips!
I mean, who couldn’t use some great traveling tips, right? And I’d love to hear YOUR best traveling tips in the comments area of this post, too!
TIP #1: I think the biggest challenge to traveling with kids, is avoiding the proverbial “I’m BORED!” statements from the back seat. So here’s a tip I keep in my arsenal when they seem ready for something new to do: Stop at the nearest Dollar Store and let them each buy a new toy.
It provides them at least an hour of fun and you at least an hour of peace! Getting everybody out of the car and walking around the dollar store is a nice break and leg-stretcher. But the best part is, it’s so cheap! A dollar for each kid and they each get a new toy to play their little hearts out with. It’s great!
TIP #2: Speaking of entertaining the kids, probably my favorite tip for moms when they are about to hit the road with kids in tow is my pipe cleaners for toys tip! You’d be surprised how much kids love ’em!
TIP #3: Just this morning Thriving Family magazine tweeted about their road trip games and I’m so glad I clicked on the link! I am arming myself with these fo’ sho’! Seriously, these are some of the best road trip games I’ve seen in a LONG time. Plus, all the work is done for you (uh, hello?! Lazy mom friendly!) Just print off and you’re good to go! My kids are going to love them. Thanks Thriving Family!
TIP #4: Now this next tip I’m sharing with you isn’t really labeled as a “travel” tip, but it should be! It makes eating in the car WAAAY easier and less messy! I love keeping a stash of those trays in my car.
TIP #5: And speaking of eating in the car… I ALWAYS take my Lazy Mom Snack Bin with me on every road trip! That’s why I made my snack bin a snack BIN (and not a drawer or a dedicated shelf in the pantry)… it’s portable! It can tag along with us every where we go. And boy does it!
TIP #6: But probably my all-time FAVORITE traveling tip is a little thing I concocted to deal with all the cords in your life while traveling! You know, your cell phone cord, your ipod cord, your camera cord, and on and on I could go…. We are a generation of cords, are we not? And a bonus to this fabuloso tip is that it also can help you keep from losing your cords! Cha-ching!
Here’s my overflowing snack bin (don’t worry the kids will make it stop overflowing REAL quick) and my new pipe cleaners just ready and waiting for the trip to get started.
So there you have it. My BEST Lazy Mom Traveling Tips. What’s YOUR best traveling tip???
