Early this week, my parents and I took my kids to Texas Hill Country. (Remember? Texas is divided into regions?)
Hill Country is sort of in the center of the state and is home to none other than…..
The kind folks at Blue Bell arranged for us to have a special tour of the Blue Bell Creamery and we were tickled to death to visit!
I knew we were getting close to our destination when we saw this billboard.
And come to find out, that’s just what they do! Every employee can eat as much ice cream as they want while they are on the job. And then, well, you read it… they sell the rest!
Upon my discovery of this employee perk, I offered to let them hire me. But they just laughed. Apparently, they didn’t know I was staging a duct-taping-myself-to-a-pole-in-their-parking-lot demonstration if they didn’t hire me.
And I already had the perfect pole picked out.
Which would give me prominent placement for all to see my “hire me” protest. And would afford me the best view of the beautiful Blue Bell grounds.
And the nice outdoor memorabilia.
And where I could take in the amazing smell! Oh my dear lazy people, the smell of sugar and love is piped out of the creamery and it hits you as soon as you exit your car. No lie.
On our tour we learned about the history of Blue Bell. This is a picture of where it all began in downtown Brenham.
We also learned that Blue Bell only sold their delicious ice cream within the state of Texas up until 1989. And that they now only sell what they don’t eat to places they can hand deliver to.
Those of you who live in these highlighted areas are LUCKY DOGS!
We also saw the inner workings of the creamery and how they make and process their amazing products, but of course, we weren’t allowed to take a picture of those areas. You’ll just have to visit the creamery yourself if you want to see all of that funness.
And the BEST part of the tour was when they give you a scoop of ice cream in their cute ice cream parlor!
There were many happy smiling faces on this part of the tour.
|Our Tour Guide, Matt. Hi Matt! Told you, I’d post this!|
Especially because they offer several “you can only get this flavor here” type varieties in their parlor. Which I totally took advantage of and got their parlor exclusive peanut butter and chocolate!
My mom tried the Mexican Praline. Which she promptly died over.
Once resuscitated. We moseyed over to the cute country store where you can purchase Blue Bell items.
It was so cute how they used their Blue Bell containers to hold items to buy.
You can even buy their cartons to take home! I bought one to decorate my kitchen (and it was only 40 cents)!
I also found this bumper sticker.
Again. Trying to send a message to Blue Bell that they can hire me and move me down there at any time.
I even found a house they can purchase for me in downtown Brenham.
And surely there’s an Assembly of God church nearby that needs a Pastor! Come on Blue Bell, get on board already! Don’t you need a social media maven???
Or would your “eat all you can and sell the rest” concept be a loss if you hired me?
Patiently awaiting your reply,
The Lazy Mom
