I have now been to the sweetest place on earth and back. Remember when I told you I was gonna go there and see if the rumors were true?
Well guess what?! SOME of them are! *gasp!*
Rumor: street lights that look like Hershey’s Kisses.
So, so adorably TRUE, people!
Rumor: It rains Hershey’s kisses there.
See that puddle of WATER on the street? That’s all that rained down from the heavens our first day there. *sniff*
Rumor: The smell of chocolate is in the air.
It depends on which way the breeze is blowing from the chocolate plant!
But never-you-mind all the rumors about Hershey PA, here’s a fact: Hershey PA is TOTALLY worth being listed on your MUST-DO list!
We had SO. MUCH. CHOCOLATEY. FUN.
And there’s so much to do in Hershey PA that we didn’t even get to do it all! (Oh, darn! Gotta go back!)
At The Hershey Story we learned all about Milton Hershey and how he grew this entire town through his milk chocolate venture.
This museum is top notch and offers hands-on learning for the kids.
For $3, outside of the cost of your entrance fees (adults – $10, kids $7.50), the kids can become Mr. Hershey’s Apprentice and earn prizes as they answer questions throughout the displays.
While we found this to be perfect for our aged kids (8, 10 & 11), I would NOT recommend it for kids younger than 8, unless this is totally up their alley. It was hard for the kids to find the answers in all the displays on their own, BUT there were fantastic workers there that helped them when they needed it.
At the end of the museum, they got to print off a newspaper with their picture in it and received a Hershey’s Story coin!
We also had a SWEET time at Hershey’s Chocolate World! *wink* *wink*
Here you can find lots of Hershey merchandise, buy attraction tickets (including a trolley tour we heard was worth doing), and take a spin through Hershey’s Great American Chocolate Tour Ride (that is absolutely FREE!).
I have to say, I LOVED the cows! (No lie!) And the little jingle they sing really STICKS. We’re still singing it a week later!
Aren’t they cute?
|*Hi Gabby! Hi Harmony! Hi Olympia!*|
And when you get off the ride? You get a mini Hershey Bar! SCORE!
Buh, buh, BUT! Did you notice the big Hershey Bar in their hands? That’s because I stopped to ask a question to a worker after the ride, and low and behold if she wasn’t with Consumer Research and we all scored another BIG Hershey Bar because we were asked to participate in a survey! DOUBLE SCORE!!
Um, that’s a top secret photo of Lazy Dad in the survey room… I was told after I took it that I wasn’t supposed to take pictures. Whoops!
That’s right people, you saw it here first… the top-secret-inside-survey-room-thingy at Hershey’s Chocolate World… only on I’m a Lazy Mom!
Also while we were there, we took in the all new 4D show – Hershey’s Great Chocolate Factory Mystery! I was truly impressed with it! It was really well done and worth the money in my opinion.
It’s even interactive… the Hershey Bar guy talks to the audience and to specific people in your group while he’s animated on the screen. Does that make sense? (Think Turtle Talk with Crush or Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at Disney World. Now does it make sense?)
OH! And you totally score some free candy when you leave the show!
Ahhhhhhhh! A random wall of Hershey’s Kisses!!!!
Have I even showed you where we stayed at Hershey, yet?
We stayed at Hersheypark Camping Resort!
In their brand-spanking new Two Bedroom Deluxe Log Cabins, mind you!
This one was ours.
And by “ours,” I mean, “theirs, but I pretended it was ours.”
These cabins are really nice, and much larger on the inside than they seem from the outside!
These two bedroom Deluxe Log Cabins sleep up to seven people, and has some major bunk-bed fun going on in one room!
|Loved the big storage drawers under the beds!|
It’s also fully stocked with cooking utensils and tableware for up to seven people as well!
It has air conditioning and a full bathroom, too.
All you need to do is provide the linens (bedding, pillows, towels, kitchen towels and dish soap) and you’re ready to go! (If you forget anything there are stores close by.)
The whole camping area is super nice and has a great pool!
And people! Just when you thought I’d be winding this blog post up, I haven’t even TOLD you about Hersheypark, yet! (Hey, I was serious when I said we didn’t get to everything in three full days!)
Now listen to me very carefully lazy moms and dads. This amusement park is not some hokey pokey amusement park. OH NO! Don’t be deceived! Hersheypark is as serious an amusement park as any other serious amusment park I’ve ever been to!
IT’S A FOR REAL AMUSEMENT PARK, PEOPLE!
There’s like, ELEVEN rollar coasters!
TONS of kiddie and family rides.
Shows! (The new Western show is SUPER cute, go check it out!)
and a full-on waterpark!
No joke. This amusement park has something for EVERY age in your family. I was truly impressed!
And, well, I know this will totally shock you. But Lazy Dad was chosen for to be in that show I pictured up above.
I know, I know… he NEVER, EVER gets chosen to be in shows WHEREVER we go, EVER. (Oh, and also see here.)
This show was really cute and was a cheesy take off of a 60’s game show. And well, they give you a big Hershey’s bar when you win.
Which we promptly ate. Because “it will melt and all.”
Incidentally, did you notice how many times we got free candy after we did various things at Hershey? After a while you start to feel a bit of some entitlement.
“Geesh, I made my bed this morning, where’s my chocolate bar?”
“Uh, I tied my shoes all by myself, so why don’t I see a chocolate bar in my hand?”
Yup. Gotta fight that entitlement thing everywhere these days.
So there you have it! Our incredible trip to Hershey PA! A town I long heard about, but had never gotten to visit before.
The bottom line: Hershey PA is definitely worth a visit!
Disclosure: Hershey PA provided my family with attraction tickets and a complimentary stay. All opinions expressed are my own, mkay?
